SAD NEWS: Former Nigerian Defender Taribo West Dies in South Africa

The former defender of Nigeria Super Eagles who is now a Pastor at Founder of Shelter in The Storm Miracle Ministries of All Nations has died in South Africa early morning of Tuesday, South Africa Radio reports.

He passed on at 42.

According to the reports, West was flown into South Africa for medical treatment but did not state what he was diagnosed of.

His body has since been sent for autopsy.

He is best remembered for his various unusual and colourful hairstyles.

After winning several major trophies with Auxerre in French football, West went on to play for both Milanese clubs, Internazionale and Milan. He also appeared in the top level leagues of England and Germany.

Internationally, West made 42 caps for Nigeria between 1994 and 2005, being a member of the team in two World Cups and two African Championships. He also represented his country at the 1996 Summer Olympics, winning the gold medal.
